Cambodia Airport Transfer for our Bike Tours

Welcome to Cambodia By Bike! It's important to know that as of 2024, the old airport near Angkor Wat is closed. All flights now arrive at the Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport (SAI), which is located about 50 km (31 miles) from the city center.

The journey into town takes between 60 to 90 minutes depending on your choice of transport. Here are your best options for getting to your accommodation:

1. The Official Airport Shuttle Bus (Best for Solo/Budget)

This is the most affordable option. The buses are modern, air-conditioned, and have luggage space.

  • Cost: $8 USD for a one-way ticket / $15 USD return.

  • Drop-off: The main station is on 7 Makara Road (near the ACE School).

  • Frequency: Roughly every 1–2 hours from 9:30 AM to 10:00 PM.

  • Pro Tip: Once at the bus station, a $2 USD tuk-tuk ride can take you the rest of the way to most hotels in the Pub Street/Wat Bo area.

2. Private Taxi or Minivan (Best for Groups/Convenience)

If you want door-to-door service without waiting for a bus schedule, go to the official transport desk at the arrivals hall.

  • Cost: Fixed rate of $35 USD for a standard car (1–3 passengers) and $45 USD for a minivan (up to 7-8 passengers).

  • Note: These prices are fixed for the city center. If your hotel is significantly outside the main town area, you might be asked for an extra $5–$10.

3. Ride-Hailing Apps (Grab & PassApp)

While Grab is popular in the city, getting one from the airport can be hit-or-miss because drivers have to pay a toll to enter the terminal.

  • Cost: Usually between $25 and $32 USD.

  • Caveat: You may have to wait longer than usual, and some drivers might ask you to pay the airport entry toll (approx. $1–$2) on top of the app price.

Important Arrival Tips

  • Tuk-Tuks: Traditional tuk-tuks (remorques) are generally not allowed to pick up passengers directly inside the airport terminal area due to the long highway distance. You will mostly see cars and vans for this route.

  • Cash is King: While some counters take cards, it's highly recommended to have US Dollars (in pristine condition—no rips or marks) or Cambodian Riel ready for your transport.

  • Pre-booking: Check with your hotel first; many offer a "standard" pickup for $30–$35, which saves you the hassle of the taxi queue after a long flight.
